The Gray whales arrive every winter in San Ignacio Lagoon making it the perfect place for whale watchers to observe these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. Gray whales have gathered in San Ignacio for centuries to calve, cavort and relax before heading north to their Arctic feeding grounds.
This picturesque lagoon is the perfect place to enjoy friendly encounters with the gray whales in comfort and safety. A charter flight delivers you to this remote and pristine desert world—the perfect place from which to observe these majestic animals in their winter breeding grounds. It's just a short skiff ride into the Lagoon, where you'll experience the thrill of a friendly whale surfacing just a few feet away.
In between whale watching excursions, you can kayak through the labyrinth mangrove estuaries to bird watch in this natural aviary, or comb the peaceful shoreline to discover remnants of the sea. Our experienced guides are always ready to lend a hand and share their knowledge. Our catered camp is situated at water's edge with safari-style tents, cots, and solar-heated showers to make your days and nights comfortable and carefree. You’ll dine on delicious Mexican food and enjoy happy hour each evening as you watch the crimson sun set behind the Lagoon. You can explore the Sea of Cortez in style aboard this Robertson and Caine catamaran sailing yacht. It has four en-suite cabins with a galley & saloon plus a large covered dining area outside. The boat comes with a full crew and it offers the flexibility to enjoy all that the Sea of Cortez has to offer. It is available for charter year round and depending on your interest certain times of the year are better for different types of activities.
February through April: Ideal for whale watching, hiking, kayaking and snorkeling
May through July: Snorkeling, diving, hiking and bird watching
August through October: Best for SCUBA diving and snorkeling
November through January: Snorkeling, kayaking, hiking and depending on wind conditions it can be good for diving with the hammerheads.
The minimum rental period is two nights and the cost is $2250 per 24 hour period for up to 8 passengers. It includes food, crew and gear.
