Sea of Cortez Wildlife Cruise:

Join our special voyage of discovery, exploration, and tranquility. Catch sight of a breathtaking array of whales and dolphins - from Fin and Humpback to Sperm, Orca and Pilot. Snorkel in waters where a wondrous array of tropical fish thrive. Watch blue footed boobies raising their young. See tens of thousands of royal and elegant terns in their nests.

You will cruise aboard the Don Jose through the southern Sea of Cortez , exploring the islands and coast between La Paz and Loreto. With frequent anchoring for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and hiking, you will have time to experience the many faces of the Sea of Cortez.

More than 50 years ago, John Steinbeck traveled to The Sea of Cortez and logged his experiences in his book, "The Log From the Sea of Cortez." This trip travels in the same areas mentioned in the book; many of his impressions are as accurate today as they were in the 1940's.

Gray Whales of San Ignacio:

The Gray whales arrive every winter in San Ignacio Lagoon making it the perfect place for whale watchers to observe these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. Gray  whales have gathered in San Ignacio for centuries to calve, cavort and relax before heading north to their Arctic feeding grounds.

See first hand how these beautiful cetaceans have touched the hearts of millions. With a short skiff ride out into the lagoon prepare to experience a Gray Whale surfacing just a few feet from your skiff. You will be amazed by the urge to reach out and touch this extraordinary animal.

Kayak through the fertile mangrove estuaries where the keen bird watcher will see a number a different species in this natural aviary. Beachcomb the peaceful lagoon shore and discover shells, fossils, and other remnants of the sea.

Our chartered flight will deliver you into this remote desert world. Accommodations at water's edge provides a comfortable wilderness experience with all the amenities of  home. Magdelena Bay Whale Watching:


Sheltered by low barrier islands, the protected waters of Magdalena Bay in southern Baja provide a perfect and peaceful winter home to hundreds of California Gray Whales. These magnanimous creatures allow us to watch them roll, breach "spy hop" and tend their young, an experience both exhilarating and humbling.

Whale watching from skiffs is the primary activity yet you will find plenty of opportunity to hike through the dunes to explore the expansive, undeveloped Pacific beach. 5 day cruises are available aboard the 80' M/V Don Jose.

It's difficult to find up a more unique marine environment than Magdalena Bay - a calm, complex and captivating environment characterized by endlessly shifting Olean dunes, brilliantly blooming desert flora, twisting mangrove-lined estuaries and, most magnificent of all, the closely observed California Gray Whale.

Every winter California Gray Whales migrate south to the Pacific lagoons of the Baja peninsula to breed and calve. Here is a real opportunity for a close encounter with the planet's largest creatures which you'll remember for the rest of your life.
