Rafting Trips in Desolation Canyon

Desolation Canyon:

The Green River through Desolation Canyon provides a perfect family trip offering fun, small to moderate rapids, beautiful scenery, big sandy beaches, pre historic Indian art and a glimpse into the West's homesteading days.  The rapids are rated Class II-III.  Outfitters use oar powered and paddle rafts on this 94 mile trip.  Inflatable kayaks may be brought along for additional fun and excitement.

This stretch of the Green River runs through two remote wilderness areas; Desolation and Gray Canyons.  Desolation Canyon is the only western river canyon to be listed as a Registered National Historical Landmark. Trips gather in Green River or Moab, UT.  Transportation is provided to the river by a short scenic flight to the remote "put-in" at Sand Wash.  All trips end just outside Green River, UT and provide transportation back to the starting point.

As stated earlier this is a great family trip.  The minimum age is 5 years old for this trip.  The advantage to this trip is that although it has a lower age minimum the older participants can ramp up the excitement by spending time in the paddle raft or in the inflatable kayaks that accompany most trips.  The season is May-October.

Prices start at $885 per person. Youth prices are available.
