Idaho Rafting Trips on the Snake River

Overview:

The Snake River serves as the Idaho-Oregon border.  Hells Canyon, a 7,000 foot deep chasm carved by the Snake River is renowned as America's deepest canyon.  The Snake River through Hell's Canyon is such an impressive natural achievement that Congress added its name to the National Wild and Scenic River System in 1976.  Breathtaking landscapes, mountainous walls soar from the river.  LARGE rapids, clearwater sturgeon fishing, sandy campsites and hiking to abandon homesteads, make this a popular trip.

This is a trip through the chronicles of human and geological history.  Nez Perce pictographs and rough-hewn pioneer dwellings remind us that not all visitors enjoyed grand service, great meals and relaxation here. Three days will take you through the heart of the canyon, 34 miles of the Snake River and the two largest rapids: Granite Creek and Wild Sheep. If you have time, five to six days will leave all 82-miles of the fabled Hell's Canyon forever etched in your mind.

It is rated Class III in its 82 miles.  Trips are 3-6 days long.  Oar rafts, paddleboats and inflatable kayaks, run the trips. The river is dam-controlled.  The minimum age is 7-8 yrs old, depending on the outfitter.  The season is May through September.  Trips start in Boise, Cambridge or Lewiston, ID.

Prices start at $822 per person
