Idaho Rafting Trips on the Middle Fork of the Salmon


Itinerary at a Glance:

The Middle Fork offers both oar and paddle rafting. The season runs from June- September and most outfitters want the youngest participants to be 12 years old.  The age limit is subject to change depending on the time of year due to water levels.  The river put in changes to Indian Creek usually around late July due to lower water levels and early June due to road conditions.


Option One

Day 0:  Arrive in Stanley, Idaho overnight.  Lodging is additional.

Day 1:   Meet your outfitter in the morning for transfer to the river for put in at either Boundary Creek or Indian Creek. You will spend the next 4-6 days rafting, fishing, exploring and camping. 

Last Day: Once you are about three miles below the mouth of the Middle Fork (confluence of the Main Salmon and the Middle Fork) you will arrive at Cache Bar in the early afternoon. Return to Stanley, Idaho.

Option Two

Day 0:  Arrive in Stanley, Idaho overnight.  Lodging is additional.

Day 1:   Meet your outfitter in the morning for transfer to the river for put in at either Boundary Creek or Indian Creek. You will spend the next 4-6 days rafting, fishing, exploring and camping. 

Last Day: Once you are about three miles below the mouth of the Middle Fork (confluence of the Main Salmon and the Middle Fork) you will arrive at Cache Bar in the early afternoon. Transport to Salmon, Idaho.
