Overview

More than 1 million acres of incredibly diverse and beautiful land await you in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (NRA). The canyons, buttes, and desert sands invite you to discover a place that tells the story of nearly 650 million years of the earth's history.

Lake Powell provides the most enjoyable way to connect with this sculpted sandstone wonderland that many visit but few know.

To appreciate the grandeur and serenity of Glen Canyon we will paddle the quiet side canyon backwaters of this desert lake with its soaring cliffs and sandy beaches. We have 4 day introductory trips and more exploratory 5 and 6 day trips. We use a variety of sleek, stable touring kayaks to accommodate body and ability with foot operated rudders so you are able to access the narrowest side canyons in comfort at an easy pace. Our Coast Guard licensed support boat provides quick "up lake" transfers to maximize our kayaking time and otherwise to carry our food, gear and camping comforts to keep the kayaks light and maneuverable. All safety and camping gear is included so you only need bring your own personal effects.

The kayak touring possibilities on Lake Powell are pretty much endless. With 1900 miles of spectacular shoreline on a 170 mile long lake it would take years to see it all. The real value of Lake Powell as a touring destination lies in its unusual side canyons. Glen Canyon's 94 incomparable side canyons are all accessible to kayaks though many are inaccessible to motor boats.

Most every canyon has a hiking opportunity that draws you up the canyon into a photographer's paradise of light and stone. Kayaking on Lake Powell offers a hand's on paddling adventure with trips to accommodate novice and experienced paddler alike.  Trips range from 15 to 40 miles and private small group charters (six guests) are welcome.

Glen Canyon NRA is nestled in the center of the Grand Circle, a collection of seven national parks, seven national monuments, and numerous state parks, historical sites, prehistoric Indian ruins, colorful ghost towns, and stunning geologic formations that reach from northern Arizona into southern Utah.  Its sheer, twisting canyons intrigue and delight the boater; its rugged, unspoiled terrain provides numerous opportunities to camp, hike, explore, and simply absorb the solitude.

The trips run in March, April, September, October and November.
