Transportation
These partial trips allow you to see one section of the Canyon on a shorter trip but you always end up in a completely different place than where you start and so you will incur some extra logistical expenses to return to your starting point. Transportation to Lees Ferry is always provided by the outfitter from their start city. Hiking out to the South Rim is on your own (see Itinerary at a Glance) and there are several departure options from the South Rim depending on your destination.
Starting in Flagstaff, AZ Arrival: Fly: America West/US Air only from Phoenix Train: Amtrak Bus: Greyhound & scheduled van shuttles Drive: Own car or rental
Return from the South Rim: * Commercial ground transportation is available twice daily. * Private car shuttle companies can shuttle your car to the South Rim to meet you. * If you have an extra day you can do your own shuttle by driving to the Canyon, parking you car and taking the commercial ground transportation back to Flagstaff. * No commercial flights are available between Grand Canyon and Flagstaff.
Starting in Page, AZ Arrival: Fly: Great Lakes Airlines from Grand Jct., CO or Phoenix, AZ Charter flight from Las Vegas, NV Commercial Van Service: Two companies offer charter rates for individuals or groups. Drive: Private or rental (limited rental car drop off available)
Starting in Marble Canyon, AZ Arrival: Fly: Charter flight from Las Vegas, NV Commercial Van Service: Two companies offer charter rates for individuals or groups. Drive: Private or rental (no rental car drop off available)
Return from the South Rim: * Commercial Van Service: Two companies offer charter rates for individuals or groups. * Private car shuttle companies can shuttle your car to the South Rim to meet you. * No commercial flights are available between Grand Canyon and Flagstaff. NOTE: Most people starting in Page either drive their own vehicle to Page and have it shuttled to the South Rim, fly or rental car to Page and take a return from Grand Canyon to Las Vegas after you hike out.
Starting in Las Vegas, NV Arrival: Fly: Many commercial airlines Drive: Private or rental If you meet your outfitter in Las Vegas there are regularly scheduled flights from the Grand Canyon Airport back to Las Vegas the morning after you hike out.
